Terms of use and licence
Last updated: October 25, 2026
These terms cover the BucketWorx app (the desktop app, the command line and the MCP server) and the BucketWorx Pro licence. BucketWorx is made by DAB Worx Inc., a company in Ontario, Canada ("we"). By installing or using BucketWorx, or buying a Pro licence, you agree to them. Questions:hello@bucketworx.com.
The free edition
You can use the free edition of BucketWorx at no cost, for personal or commercial work, on as many computers as you like.
The Pro licence
- A Pro licence is for one person. That person can use BucketWorx Pro on all of their own computers and servers, for personal or commercial work.
- Each person who uses Pro needs their own licence. A company buying for its team buys one licence per person.
- A licence covers every BucketWorx 1.x release, for as long as you use them. A future major version (2.0 and later) may be a paid upgrade; your licence keeps working with 1.x either way.
- Your licence key carries the name or email address it was issued to, and BucketWorx shows it. Don't share your key or post it publicly. A key that is shared publicly, or that belongs to a refunded or disputed order, can be turned off: it then stops working in later releases.
- You can't resell, rent out or transfer a licence without our written agreement.
Buying Pro
Pro is sold through Link, Stripe's merchant of record service. Link sells you the licence on our behalf, takes the payment, collects any sales tax, VAT or GST, and sends your receipt, so your card statement showsLINK.COM* BUCKETWORX. Prices are in US dollars; tax is added at checkout where it applies. Link's own terms cover the payment itself. We deliver your licence key on the page you return to after paying, and by email.
You can get a full refund within 30 days of buying, for any reason. See therefund policy.
Beta and test builds
Beta builds are for testing. They stop working on a date shown in the app, and they may have bugs that the released version doesn't.
What you may not do
- Remove, disable or work around the licence check, or make or share tools that do.
- Copy, modify or redistribute BucketWorx, except as the licences of its open-source parts allow.
BucketWorx includes open-source components under their own licences, listed in About BucketWorx and inTHIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.txt in every download. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under those licences.
Your data and your storage
BucketWorx connects your computer directly to the storage providers you add. It doesn't send your files, keys or bucket contents to us. BucketWorx does what you, or someone using your computer or your accounts, tells it to do, including deleting, overwriting, moving and syncing files and objects. You're responsible for:
- Every action taken with BucketWorx on your computer or with your storage accounts, whoever takes it, including actions taken by mistake, by someone without your permission, or by a misconfigured setting.
- What AI agents do through the BucketWorx MCP server. Agents can only change or delete data if you start the server with --allow-writes or --allow-delete; when you do, their actions are yours.
- Folder syncs. A sync makes one folder match another, and can delete files and objects at the destination; check the preview before you run one.
- Share links. Anyone who has a link can download the object until the link expires.
- The accounts and access keys you use, your storage provider's charges (such as storage, requests and data transfer) and following your provider's terms.
- Keeping backups of data that matters, and turning on your provider's versioning or retention features where you need them. Try BucketWorx on data you can replace before using it on data you can't.
We are not responsible for files or objects that are deleted, overwritten, moved, corrupted, exposed or lost through the use or misuse of BucketWorx, or through your storage provider's service, settings or outages. BucketWorx is designed to keep data safe when it can't be sure what is at a destination, but no software is free of bugs.
No warranty
BucketWorx is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that it will be error-free or will not lose data, to the fullest extent the law allows. BucketWorx isn't designed for uses where a failure could lead to death, injury or serious damage to property or the environment.
Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, DAB Worx Inc., its owners and its suppliers aren't liable for any loss or corruption of data, loss of profits, revenue or business, storage or bandwidth charges, or any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of BucketWorx or your inability to use it, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to BucketWorx is limited to the amount you paid for your licence, or US$10 if you use the free edition. Some places don't allow these limits; where they don't, they apply only as far as the law permits. These terms don't take away any rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived.
Claims about how you used BucketWorx
If someone else makes a claim against DAB Worx Inc. because of how you used BucketWorx (for example, data you transferred, shared or deleted, or breaking your storage provider's terms or the law), you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim, as far as the law where you live allows.
Ending these terms
You can stop using BucketWorx at any time. If you break these terms, your licence ends and you must stop using Pro.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the date above shows the latest version, and changes don't take away a licence you already bought. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
